8:07 p.m. Mojave Desert. Moonlight strikes more than 107,000 solar mirrors to create a portrait of Apollo 11 computer programmer Margaret Hamilton. Bigger than New York's Central Park, the portrait is a tribute to Hamilton's contributions to the Apollo program and the field of software engineering.

Tribute Installation

For the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing, Creative Lab created a tribute to software pioneer Margaret Hamilton.

Creative technologist, Isaac Blankensmith, had an amazing idea to turn the Ivanpah Solar Facility into the world’s largest portrait. With the help of a bit of moonlight and thousands of solar panels, a mural was formed. To see how we did it, check out this blogpost.

We tested 2 different patterns hoping that the visuals would actually work. One showcased solely typography and the other visualized imagery and patterns.
